About My Work

Linda  has been sketching and painting in watercolor all her life. Originally from Houston, TX., she lived with husband John in  Lewes, DE for over 15 years where she fell in love with the beautiful seaside sites.   After a 2016 move to the Chicago area to be nearer grandchildren, Linda has added Naperville, IL to her painting interest - a lovely town through which a river flows!  She joined the Board of Directors of Naperville's Public Art organization - Century Walk Corporation in 2018.

Linda applies watercolor in many layers and loves using a transparent watercolor palette.   Light and shadows are particularly important to her work.

Combined with simple composition using negative space and strong shadows, her works speak to the many beautiful images of her hometowns. "I like to dramatize simple iconic Lewes and Naperville images with the ultimate goal to produce a painting that makes the viewer happy," she notes.

Linda has studied with a number of talented artists, but she attributes her quest to capture shadow and light to master painter Charles Reid with whom she has studied a number of times.
